As far as I can tell the Department of Environment and Energy (DoEE) is awaiting an assessment in to the impacts of the proposed development from Walk Corp.
I can't see an approval in place yet - unless something happened today. Development in a Ramsar site is a high bar to pass and this should not get through based on the criteria required to justify development there. So a Federal approval is still required
I believe.
In Qld - the state government gave the green light about 4 years ago with minimal approvals, getting in bed with Redlands City Council and declaring
part of the Ramsar site a 'Priority Development Area'. They have previous form though...They did the same with the LNG sites in Gladstone which were in the GBR
World Heritage Area. They gave all the approvals there, changed the WHA boundary and then did a strategic
environmental assessment of the impacts to placate DEWHA as they were then (now DoEE).
There are still opportunities to give the DoEE feedback - I don't think it's a done deal, but $$$$$$ speak louder than waders on a mudflat unfortunately.

The planned development of Toondah Harbour in a Ramsar-protected wetland in Queensland's Moreton Bay makes a mockery of international treaties to which Australia is a party. Queensland Labors stands condemned for this wanton act of environmental
vandalism.
