This month’s speaker will be Karen Rowe PhD

Hugh D.T. Williamson Research Fellow, Museums Victoria

who will talk about

‘Listening for Nature:

Using ecoacoustics to engage communities and document Victoria’s birdlife.’

The talk will touch on some of Karen's recent work in the rapidly expanding field of ecoacoustics, which applies new methods in digital sound collection, processing and analysis to document the presence of vocal animals in their natural habitats. Karen will provide examples of research projects in Victoria that have benefited from these new technologies, from detecting the presence of critically endangered species to engaging community groups in the assessment of bird diversity in different habitats.

Where: Ground floor, 60 Leicester St, Carlton. Free parking out front.
When:7:30 pm Thursday 14th March 2019.
