A few records of Swifts for Mike Tarburton

26/1/19 - 3 Pacific Swifts over South Wodonga (near Federation Hill) NE Vic at 1100. Circled briefly up high , with Tree Martins feeding at lower elevations. Only present for a couple of minutes. Weather very hot and humid (at least for this part of the world) with brief showers

The following two observations were made with Richard Allen, Mark Allen, Jen Hines and Kim Sebo
2/3/19 - About 500 Pacific Swifts plus at least 1 White-throated Needletail over Eualdrie in Weddin Mountains NP (central west NSW) at 2000 (just on dusk). Came over very high and circled over the hill until just before dusk. Weather warm with some cloud, but no rain. May have been more Needl;etails but they quickly were too far away to identify

3/3/19 - At least 20, and probably closer to 50 (and maybe many more - hard to see) Pacific Swifts at Holy Camp, Weddin Mountains NP at 1100. Clear blue skies and flying below tree canopy height. I left at 1100 and still present - others may give an idea if a longer period.

Has been a good year for Pacific Swifts in my part of the world this year.
Cheers,
Peter
