hi Chris,
there are some old records of Yellow-legged Flycatcher in the Atherton Tablelands, none of which convince me that they are anything but erroneous...
it makes no sense at all to me that this Cape York Peninsula/New Guinea species would occur there - much like the number of Chestnut-breasted Cuckoo records for the Atherton Tablelands as well !!

Yes in regards to the Yellow-legged Flycatcher, the text in the PIizzey App states under Range and Status - “possibly also Atherton Tablelands”. No other Field Guide picks this up. I wonder did an “erroneous” Lake Barrine photo trigger this
or were there other independent sightings?

There's a few photo errors through that app that I've noticed or had pointed out; e.g. first non-breeding Gull-billed Tern image is a Whiskered Tern, the
only non-breeding plumage image for White-winged Black Tern is a Whiskered Tern, and I'm fairly sure the first Collared Sparrowhawk image is a goshawk. There's probably others floating around - a lot of photos to curate!
The sound recording of "typical" Masked Owls calls sound like a Barn Owl too

and there's another error too in the same app...
a perfectly good Fan-tailed Cuckoo is captioned as a Chestnut-breasted Cuckoo... it's any wonder some birders make false claims with their ID's of Chgestnut-breated Cuckoos!!
wishing everyone on here a safe and very Merry Christmas too!!

No surprise there. Lake Barrine must be hundreds of kms too far south for Yellow-legged.

In the photos in the Pizzey and Knight digital app one, listed as a Yellow-legged Flycatcher, labelled
Adult. Lake Barrine. QLD. Peter Nunn
has orange around the eye and looks very much like the Pale Yellow Robin.
The other photos of the Yellow Legged Flycatcher do not show the orange around the eye.
I checked with Dr Greg Clancy and his comment was that it appeared to be the northern race of the Pale Yellow Robin.
Comments?

Merry Christmas
