It appears that it was going to collect passengers and only the pilot was lost. see https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-12-09/wreckage-of-missing-plane-found-in-tasmania/10597750 Given the weather was classed as poor at the time, it is strange that the pilot was taking the inland route [via the Arthur Range] rather than the coastal route. It is a sad event that will impact on bushwalkers, birdwatchers and OBP volunteers for a while.
