Recently returned from a trip to Iron Range and the greater Cairns area and
I recorded the following swift sightings on consecutive days

Tuesday 5 December

1.  Portland Roads, Iron Range:

at 6.30am 2 White-throated Needletails mixed with 10 Swiftlets sweeping
circling above the town's main road adjacent to the mangroves
at 7.30am approx 30 Pacific Swifts circling overhead at different levels
above the ridgeline behind the town of Portland Roads and for several
minutes - unhurried

Wednesday 6 December

1.  Centenary Lake, Cairns at 9.30am 30+ Pacific Swifts mixed with some
swiftlets in loose groups and at different heights for several minutes -
unhurried
2.  Bilwon Road, Biboohra at 1.10pm 10 Pacific Swifts overhead cultivated
grasslands - fast dives
