Tawny Frogmouths have amazing abilities to ignore the activities of
humans.
When I first became aware of them in our rural-residential block (9 years
ago) I was concerned that mowing the lawn would cause them angst. Not only
did that not disturb them - beyond opening an eye briefly - but they
totally ignore me using a chainsaw directly under them while they're
roosting.
This year the family (both adults and 2 chicks) decided to spent the chicks
2nd day out of the nest in a tree hanging over a track used by contractors
concreting the base for a shed. Despite utes driving back and forth all
day the only reaction was the chicks huddled a little more into the fork in
which they were sitting.
