Hi Everyone, When I went to work today, I heard of a strange bird that had been collected from a verandah in northern Bendigo (Epsom), after the owner called DELWP for assistance. To everyone's surprise the bird was identified as a female Plains Wanderer (photo attached). I was particularly surprised as I've been helping with Plains Wanderer night surveys within Terrick Terrick NP (about 100km north of Bendigo)for the past two years, and not seen a single PW during this period. Anyway, the PW has had a vet check and given the all clear to join a breeding program with Melbourne Zoo. I'm assuming that the bird may have been stunned after hitting a window, perhaps from a night flight in the early hours of the morning! Regards Martin Woodward Attachment:
