Hi All
I am one of a few Sydney birders heading to Eaglehawk Neck for some pelagic
trips next weekend (19/20 August). We fly in/out of Hobart and are staying at
Eaglehawk Neck. As some of us will have a day either side of the weekend for
birding, and possibly the evenings too, hoping some of the resident birders or
recent visitors might be able to help with a request for information on:
- recent sightings of nocturnal species (esp Masked owl and Morepork) in the
Hobart/Tasman Peninsula area
- good sites near Eaglehawk Neck for nocturnal animal spotting
- good sites for Tassie endemics and/or anything unusual that is about right
now. (In terms of sites, I think we have info on known sites from using the
online and published guides - eg FernTree, Waterworks Reserve etc – it was more
if anywhere that is known is doing particularly well right now or a site that
is not in the guides.)
- sites near Hobart airport that are worth exploring (esp for Monday when we
leave at variously different times).
Cheers
Tom Wilson
