This article demonstrates how easily one can be caught unawares by grass fires. http://www.ntnews.com.au/news/northern-territory/litchfield-national-park-grassfire-causes-hikers-to-shelter-in-burnt-patch-of-ground/news-story/b1dd2690ac159dd38acc567ccb6deaef Although gamba grass isn’t mentioned that the hikers mention a “wall of fire” suggests that it is so - the Park is badly infested with this weed. In the past Litchfield Park rangers have expressed their fear that people would be caught in gamba-fuelled fires.
