Hi Laurie,
To be pedantic, Southern States are those South of the Qld/ NT
border in this context, NSW and Victoria in particular, but any contemporary
Australia Bustard sightings in SA, or in WA South of Meekatharra would be
interesting.
They were plenty around Broome, in the NT and Qld 25 years
plus ago when we lived or travelled there, but like Roseate Terns, (almost
wiped out in Aus waters by egg collecting in the name of traditional food) ,
Bustards then were under hunting pressure there. Best seen today around Mareeba
as noted in another post.
