Today's "Guardian" has a report with photos of a Nicobar pigeon which
was not only seen but captured in the Kimberley, having 'blown in' from
Southeast Asia. Apparently its fate is being discussed... I hope
nobody decides that it's a biological menace to Australia. No-one has
ever taken any action against such self-introductions as the Spotted
Whistling-Duck and the Cattle Egret. I would rather this new bird on
the Australian List were left in peace where it was - until the
twitchers start to chase it.
