Circling over rail line beside Cook River between Canterbury and Hurlstone Park
(inner west Sydney) at 7am. Haven't seen them for a year or two in this area.
The defensive responses of the locals with their mobbing techniques ranges from
horizontal squadron attack of the rainbow lorikeets to a rising confused ball
of a coalition of the other locals. This coalition then perches around the
highest power pole for a very loud debrief. The rainbow lorikeets also perch in
this same spot for their own debrief. The coalition comprises Indian Mynahs,
Starlings, Noisy Miners, Red Wattlebirds and Southern Figbirds. The New
Hollands, Willy Wagtails and Sparrows are conspicuously missing in action.
Their job is to mob the local cats.
