Many years ago, back in the last millennium, pre-1990, when filling
in squares on the Bellarine Peninsula for the First Atlas of Australian
Birds, we observed several Latham's Snipe in the grounds of the
Pt.Henry Aluminium Works. They were feeding very busily on a very wet
lawn in extremely heavy rain - probably on earthworms forced to the
surface by the rain.
