Helo Peter,

Your comment has prompted me to dig this out of my diaries.

31 march 1982 Camped 60 km S of Nullagine on a creek running through red
breakaways - very pretty. Some of the spinifex 6 ft high.

About 1930, one or two birds fly nearby and calling, v.parrot like, double
whistle doo-wee doo-wee

1 Apr 1982 ( the next night, NO JOKE)

1920 hrs Parrots again tonight, flew over camp to the water; same call
Undoubtedly Night Parrots.

A picture of this spot can be seen on my website under Rufous Grasswren, pic #
514203

Having heard the recently released sound confirms my original opinion - highly
likely to have been Night Parrots. It was dark and they certainly weren't
Bourkes, the only other parrot I know of that drinks in the dark.

Regards

Graeme
