I visited Mallacoota Water Treatment Plant this afternoon and while numbers and diversity of waterbirds are not back to those evident a year ago they are a lot better than in October. Many Chestnut Teal (and lesser nubers of Grey Teal). 72 Pacific Black Duck including 7 recently fledged; 19 Black Swans including 6 cygnets. The first Hardhead (2) I have seen for several months and the first Hoary-headed Grebes (6) here for a while. Also 1 female Musk Duck.
