My wife and I got Permanent Residents Visas in January 2012. We have children
who are Australian citizens (we are US citizens) and we got expensive,
Contributing Parent Visas. I recommend finding an immigration attorney (I would
recommend ours, but he no longer does that) to help them through the steps. It
can seem a bit complicated.
We will finally be moving into a tiny house in VIC in the coming months and
will be basically staying put and birding and seeing our grandchildren,
eventually getting our Australian citizenship.
Cheers
