An exhibition featuring lifesaving bird slings, and a magpie who saved a family. Sydney-based artist Cameron Bloom’s profoundly beautiful photographs of Penguin Bloom - the odd little bird who saved a family, are exhibited alongside Sew What for Wildlife? - an exhibition of slings for injured birds designed by Alexandra Randell, made by the McCormick Centre sewing group and adorned by artists. Bloom’s book Penguin Bloom written by Bradley Trevor Greive is now the number one Australian biography/memoir for 2016. The Penguin Bloom and Sew What for Wildlife? joint exhibition celebrates the bonds we share with nature and, especially, our “poor, earth-born companions and fellow mortals” – our birds and all wildlife.
