I just got one of the new $5 notes and birders can reassure themselves about the colours on the Eastern Spinebill depicted on it. In fact there are several spinebills on different parts of the note but all are either outlines or solid pieces of tinfoil,
so they are not printed in any colours, they merely reflect different colours depending on the light falling on the note.
I think it's quite a handsome note. Look forward to seeing if, when they redesign the other notes, the flora and fauna theme continues.-- John Leonard
