There just doesn't see to be agreement on this question with some people in
favour of threat behaviour and others agreeing with you about feeding
behaviour. I'm not sure myself as there were several other robins in the
relatively immediate area, and when I looked through a series of
unfortunately unsharp photos, she didn't appear to be looking down to watch
for the results of her movement, but perhaps it was small flies she was
trying for. It's obviously something to keep an eye out for in the future.
I agree about the White-faced Heron looking comical as I saw one doing that
last year in a paddock for the first time - much odder to see than near
water!
