Dear Sue LashkoIn a recent posting in the Cairns Birders eNewsletter, the owl
has reappeared.RUFOUS OWL. Big Tree Corner Grafton and
Hartley.
I suggest you contact the locals on as sometimes a
Rufous Owl appears on the Esplanade foreshore near the swimming lagoon cnr
Shield and Esplanade. It has two favoured trees, one diagonally opposite
Maccas, the other closer to the red roof old Council building near by.Another
useful source of information is to join the "4 o'clock group" on the foreshore
opposite the Cairns RSL Club. (cnr Florence and Esplanade)John Seale, among
others often sits on a park bench along the boardwalk watching the waders
there at 4pm most days.He also usually leads a free birdwalk in the Botanical
Gardens Tuesday mornings.
happy birding,
Burney
