At Robe SA this evening I saw a pair of Pied Oystercatchers, one of which was wearing a black leg flag with white characters H6 on its right leg. It had a metal band on the left leg, but I couldn't read that. The other bird was unadorned. Both seemed very happy in their work. I'd be interested to know their history if anyone can tell me..
