Hello Mike & all on list, Today above Centenary Lakes in Cairns at 9:45am were about 30 White-throated Needletails with about 10-15 Fork-tailed Swifts. These are my first records for either species this season on the Cairns coastal plain. Weather was overcast and the birds were hawking well above the treetops, with some quite a bit higher. There was also about 20 Australian Swiftlets amongst them. And for what it's worth, another single adult Sacred Kingfisher seen today - so a few must have decided to not head south this year.
