Many people on this forum have backed a campaign to protect the Yandina Creek Wetlands on Queensland's Sunshine Coast - the habitat of rare and endangered birds and large numbers of migratory shorebirds. The wetland was recently drained but the Queensland Government has now ordered the opening of a recently installed floodgate so water is returning the site, along with the birds. This is a welcome development, though there is a way to go yet to ensure that the wetland is fully restored. See the blog post below for full details. http://sunshinecoastbirds.blogspot.com.au/2015/09/yandina-creek-wetlands-unplugged.html Greg Roberts http://sunshinecoastbirds.blogspot.com.au/

Birding-Aus mailing list

To change settings or unsubscribe visit:
http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org
|
