This morning at the ES Marks Athletics Track in Kensington (eastern Sydney) there was one male and a possible female Koel. In 37 years of keeping records in Sydney this is my earliest returning bird. Where I live in northern Sydney they typically return in late September early October although earlier records are quite common.
