the drainage works have now occurred at Yandina Creek with the resulting
loss of important wetland habitat. What is also frustrating is that the
various
agencies and the landholders fail to recognise  the potential down stream
effects the drainage work can have in the estuary. Depending on the depth
of the drains and the pyrite concentrations in any Potential Acid Sulfate
Soils that are present, significant acid discharge events can occur when
an intense rainfall event occurs after an extended dry period i.e. after the
dry season. Is there water quality monitoring being undertaken in Yandina
Creek? Could be a good university type project to demonstrate any off site
