The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period
Monday, July 13, 2015 to Sunday, July 19, 2015:

Area: SA

Date: Saturday, July 11, 2015

Location: Flagstaff Hill Golf Club Adelaide Sth Aust.

Superb Parrot (Polytelis swainsonii) (1) Call heard clearly (as an unknown for
the Club) and using a monocular found. Excellent view (of male) from front
below with full body and breast colours clear. Second bird heard approx 40M
away in another River Red gum but could not be found to view.
So far from region that would surely be aviary escapees???

Date: Sunday, July 12, 2015

Location: Laratinga Wetlands, Mt Barker

Freckled Duck (Stictonetta naevosa) (12) Mostly on the ponds near the picnic
area, along with a few Pink-eared Ducks and some of the many Australasian
Shovelers.

Date: Monday, July 13, 2015

Location: On our Rockleigh property

Diamond Firetail (Stagonopleura guttata) (4) The firetails were in our
burnt-out "Amazon Jungle", which is now partly recovering and less unworthy of
the name "Jungle". This is the first time we have been spotted them there.
Before Trees for Life direct-seeded in 2009 there were 4 eucalypts and a couple
of golden wattles in about 4 hectares. Now there are hundreds of gums up to 3
metres high, and birds are always there. Roos like it too, as there is shelter
from the icy winds that roar in from the west.

Reported by: Barbara and Peter Bansemer on Tuesday, July 14, 2015

fallen timber in an Acacia saligna scrub, planted around 25 years ago.

Olive-backed Oriole (Oriolus sagittatus) (2) Seen from near the beginning of
the yellow trail: immature birds sat quietly high in a bare tree, actually
outside the reserve near the rusty-roofed storage building.
