Went into Bunnings at Tuggerah (NSW) this morning, and was rather surprised to hear a Grey Butcherbird calling inside the building. I dismissed it as probably part of a bird call recording coming from the garden dept. But then the call started to come from various parts of the building. I followed the call and then found a Grey Butcherbird happily flitting between the roof girders. I have seen plenty of House Sparrows, Welcome Swallows and Rock Doves in buildings, but it was the first butcherbird for me. Quite pleasant wandering around listening to it pipe and cackle.
