Late yesterday (24/05/15) afternoon on the western outskirts of Warrnambool there was a flock of between 400 & 500 Magpie Geese feeding in a paddock. It was difficult to get an accurate count because some parts of the flock were quite densely packed and there was a fair bit of movement within sub-groups. They were only using one paddock in spite of there being similar looking paddocks all around. Magpie Geese are found at nearby Tower Hill and they turn up in other parts of the state from time to time but this flock was particularly large.
