The following article gives some hope that bushfire management can be returned
to a more ecologically and scientifically based management activity rather than
a knee-jerk reaction that imposed percentages to be burnt in a state.
Hopefully other states will follow the lead of Victoria. The reference to the
burning of mallee and the disastrous consequences for mallee-dependent birds is
a topic that I think has been discussed in this forum. It is good to get some
good news about the environment for a change.
