I observed a nestling Little Owl in the Chilterns (south central England) about 30 years ago that had fallen out of a nest about 15 ft up in a hedgerow tree. Over the course of about half an hour it climbed back up a nearly vertical tree to the nest hole, by climbing with its feet, flapping with its wings for lift, with frequent stops. It was supervised by its two parents during this time, who attacked anyone who came near.
