Some years ago, when my son was doing vet science, I gave him a dead penguin 
found in the bay. The class he was in examined the bird from several points of 
view. Cause of death was a heavy nematode infestation. If penguins are found 
dead on the beach undamaged it may be worth sending them to Melb Uni Vets as I 
have met a woman there who is interested in wildlife deaths - I cannot recall 
her name.
