The last total (solar) eclipse I saw was in Melbourne in October 1976.
You're quite right about how eerie it is. Even the people I was with were
hushed. No wonder the ancients thought they were signs from the gods!

Great photos Paul.
Not that "off topic".
I remember seeing a total eclipse in the south of France in August 1999.
It was a glorious summers day and when the eclipse happened every bird
stopped singing for several minutes and it was very eerie.
