They have prominent white "chevrons" on the bend of the folded wing, but I 
wouldn't have said they have prominent white tips to the tail.  I don't have 
the new Slater, but the 1974 edition does show a fine white tip to the tail.  
Simpson and day give a bit lighter tip, and P&K have pretty much uniform 
colour.  In the field, I can't say I've noticed a white tip, so it can't be too 
prominent.
