I think the 'Tyto' type call sounds more like a Masked Owl than a Sooty.

Subject: Strange bird-call in Victoria
Speaking of Tytos, a few years ago I visited Lone Pine in Brisbane and
was surprised to hear Koalas repeatedly giving calls which sounded
remarkably like Masked Owls! I think they were females which were being
harassed by males.
Cheers, Chris.

Whilst driving to the summit of Mt Donna Buang near Warburton, Vic on
Sunday 14 September I saw a bird making this call in response to a 'Feral'
cat, it becomes obvious what species it is near the end but (I think) it
sounds remarkably similar to a 'Tyto' Owl. What do you think?
