Fan-tailed Cuckoo (Cacomantis flabelliformis) (6) Individuals from widespread
Kangaroo Island localities commenced calling (trilling) early this year-first
heard 15 June and have continued spasmodically since.
Common Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) (1) Full-coloured adult male walking
along dis-used vehicle track in dense coastal mallee scrub, Vivonne Bay,
Kangaroo Island, 18 June 2014
Western Whipbird (Psophodes nigrogularis) (6) Three pairs commenced territorial
song from breeding territories along coastal mallee belt at Vivonne Bay,
Kangaroo Island, 15 July 2014.
Glossy Black-Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus lathami) (29) 23 (20 adults and 3
fledgelings) feeding in Drooping Sheoak woodland, Stokes Bay West, Kangaroo

Bassian Thrush (Zoothera lunulata) (2) Pair feeding on front lawn of riverside
cabin, deep forested wilderness along lower reaches of East Demole River,

Australian Hobby (Falco longipennis) (2) A pair pay irregular visits to my
forested Sugar Gum home ('Panorama Park')-last visit was for several days
commencing 14 July 2014-spent most of time chasing Rainbow Lorikeets attracted
to flowering Pink Gums, Menzies, Kangaroo Island.
Brown-headed Honeyeater (Melithreptus brevirostris) (1) Individual plucking fur
(for nest lining) from unsuspecting Koala in Brown Stringybark (Euc baxteri),
