Louise and I have recently returned from a very enjoyable birding trip to
Japan where we managed to find all the special endemic birds on the islands
of Miyakejima, Amami and Okinawa as well as seeing lots of good birds around
Tokyo and Mt Fuji. We used a very good English speaking local guide by the
name of Kaz Shinoda ) who is a first class birder,
a meticulous organiser and a very personable and knowledgeable person. We
found that travelling around the country to be highly relaxing as it is a
non threatening environment, transportation and infrastructure works
efficiently, the food is excellent and the people are extremely helpful and
friendly. I can highly recommend it as a birding destination and, if you
would like a copy of my trip report and species list, please contact me -
the trip report is a 4MB pdf file.

Cheers

Roger
