Hi all, Rathdowne Street in Carlton North, an inner Melbourne suburb, is planted with Plain Trees along the curbs and a variety of Oak tree with small round acorns in the median strip. About 2 weeks ago a flock of about 40 Galahs arrived and started feeding on the acorns and also on the round seed balls on the Plain trees. Over the 2 weeks they have been working up and down the street cleaning up all the acorns and stripping the seed balls from the Plain trees. It is very pleasant to hear them calling and talking as they feed and the coffee drinkers and shoppers are all commenting on the "cockies" that have arrived. It is certainly a major improvements on having the pigeons, and nice addition to my house list. cheers Jenny http://jenniferspryausbirding.blogspot.com.au/ _______________________________________________ Birding-Aus mailing list To change settings or unsubscribe visit: http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org |
