G'day All,
We've just returned from a weekend chasing Malleefowl (successfully :) )
out past Merridin and whilst we were out there we visited Sandford Rocks
Nature Reserve (near Westonia). We found Redthroat there in the Mallee
scrub around the base of the rock and we also found plenty of then in the
scrub out near Bodallin too.
We've seen a few (well the back end of a few) Painted Button Quail out at
Collins Road earlier this year (about 3 months ago) and as recently as
April we saw fresh "plates" where they they had been scratching about so it
might be worth a look. Most of the activity seemed to be on the first 2
hilly areas on the right as you drive down Collins Road.
