A Freckled Duck was shot at Bartletts Swamp, near Boort, Victoria, this week, when the wetland was reopened to duck hunting. Bartletts Swamp is one of several wetlands that were closed prior to the opening of the duck-hunting season due to the presence of Freckled Ducks. It was reopened this week. The Freckled Duck was shot while two wildlife compliance officers were present on the wetland. They failed to charge anyone with shooting this protected, threatened species. The duck was retrieved and left at the Melbourne office of Simon Toop, head of Game Victoria. _______________________________________________ Birding-Aus mailing list To change settings or unsubscribe visit: http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org |
