Hi,

Unusual sightings … well not exactly species wise but rather the location.
As we drove onto the Bluff Point ferry yesterday, at Lawrence on the
Clarence River, an Azure Kingfisher was sitting on the cables supporting
the ramp on the ferry. The bird was quite unconcerned about the traffic
passing a few feet away. And sitting on a rail on the adjacent “spare”
ferry was a Great Egret endeavouring to swallow a small bream. I guess
“small” is relevant; to us the fish was small but the Egret was going to
have difficulties. The end result is unknown, however much later on our
return a Great Egret was patrolling the edge of the second ferry ramp –
maybe bream was still appealing.
