hi Ian,
if u head east from Kulgera (just north of SA border) onto the Finke Rd, u
should pick up Bourke's Parrot & Pied HE in the thick Red Mulga stands before u
get to Finke & just beyond as well-very early morning is best. also a good area
for Major M Cockies too.
east of Finke into the sandy country of New Crown Stn u should get Banded WFace
in the dune swales, usually heaps in there, along with Crimson & Orange Chats,
as well as Cinnamon QThrush. the Buzzard & Grey Falcon are a chance in there
too & if u get into Old Andado Stn hit the big high dunes for Eyrean GWren.
Gibber Chat is a good chance beyond Mt Dare in the rocky areas before Old
Andado, while Inland Dotterel, & LW Kites are a better chance further east
again from there ...
4wd normally not required along that rd...
the area west into Tanami from Stuart Hwy may have Grey HE about half way to
Newhaven but that's a huge hike!! I would try the mulga areas near Finke &
north of Alice for them too...
not many birds to be had around Uluru from my experience either.
Chestnut-br WFace would be better once into SA, hopefully someone on here has a
few spots for u for them as Lyndhurst Stn now out of bounds & a fair way to go
too...
