Franklin's Gull
Lake Barambah (Bjelke-Petersen Dam)
Still present, after dipping on Tuesday despite a jaunt around lake by boat! Originally seen again on distant shore opposite last boat ramp with a group of 8-10 Silver Gulls, pelicans and cormorants. Another boat ride required to confirm ID, but later seen at close quarters both in front of last boat ramp, and for an extended period resting on shore where first reported, to the left of the first boat ramp after crossing the dam wall. It was still there when I departed.

Franklin's gull
Lake Barambah
Opp last boat ramp on far shore. I had been scanning this end of the lake for over an hour. Finally at 11:50am it was seen with a lone Pink-eared Duck. It was grooming so took a few seconds to confirm. Full list will be posted later. Record photo only.

Franklin's Gull
Lake Barambah (Bjelke-Petersen Dam)
Franklin's Gull showing well again today between 16:30 and 18:00. Spotted at 16:30 by Chris resting on the water in front of the last boat-ramp. Close enough for good scope views and record shots. Several boats passed close by without seeming to bother the bird. It was eventually flushed by one heading straight towards it. As luck would have it the bird came closer and landed on the shore in the little cove to the left allowing for cracking views and better shots.

Franklin's Gull
Lake Barambah (Bjelke-Petersen Dam)
An update further to Sunday's sighting of the gull, mooting the posibility that this bird may be a 2nd winter approaching 2nd summer bird not a non-breeding adult as intiially thought.
Looking at Gavin's flight shots since seeing the bird, it seems to show a slight grey wash to the central tail feathers which was not obvious in the field, and seems to indicate the bird is not quite an adult.
In addition the primary feathers are slightly subdued for an adult perhaps although this could be down to wear.
Would be interested to see others' photos of this bird to see if it sheds any further light on ageing.
Thanks to Nikolas for his thoughts on this bird as well.
