Birdline South Australia

Published sightings for the week ending 22 Dec 2013.

Tue 17 Dec Long-toed Stint Amata Waste Water Treatment Plant
Very hot conditions, raptors and other species returning to vicinity of ponds after prolonged dry spell. Long-toed Stint (2) First seen on Tuesday evening. I went back Wednesday for a closer look (within the compound) and took scope/camera. One Sharpie was also present but only approached these two birds to give them a chase. Long central toe obvious, 'washed out' appearance of plumage when compared to Sharpie and much finer in build - size difference obvious when standing together. A 'lifer' for me and was awaiting confirmation of i.d. before listing here. Thanks to Roger @ AWSG and Danny Rogers for the quick response!

Mon 16 Dec Australian Painted Snipe Globe Derby, Whites Road
Two adults present this morning at 08:00 on the island in the large pond.
