I'm predominantly using the website.
This time I'm simply replying to the email.
It's decided to go to the group. That's cool.

Are you talking about replying via email, or via the web site? I think it's
best to do whatever works best with email, ie make it work like the old list.

That's probably OK, but people will have to go out of their way to reply to the
group. That'll probably kill off conversations, but in some cases that'll be a
good thing. I can see it not being the best for things like RFIs though. I like
to use what went to the list from ages ago. If people respond to an RFI by
hitting reply it'll never be captured by the list.

I think Peter's suggestion is probably a good one - to have REPLY go to just
the Sender, and tell people how to reply-to-group as an option. Fewer headaches
that way I think.
Of course, I am still keen for us to try
birding-aus.org<http://birding-aus.org> where I have 5Gb of storage and can
inexpensively bump that to 20Gb. And we have total control over everything,
including attachment sizes. Just trying to get some settings sorted - there are
over 7,000 members on the site, about 50 real ones and the rest spammers. Not
sure whether it's best to have it set to "anyone can register" or not - it's
easy to set posting to approved members only, and there are a few moderation
options. Just have to work out whether the Wordpress site is the forum, and it
accepts inbound emails, or whether I sit a mailing list on top of it. At the
moment it just takes a feed from the Vicnet mailing list, but people can leave
comments on messages (="posts")

He is, in fact, a vampire.
(Is that a personal attack? From a moderator?!)

Well spotted. He's in the group membership with us gmail address, but posting
with his shc address. Don't ask me how that works.
