Date: Wednesday, November 6, 2013
Location: Wynn Vale
Grey Fantail (Rhipidura albiscapa) (1) Single bird. I thought I heard the call
this morning around 8am but was half awake at the time so considered it might
have been blackbird or starling call variations. Then soon after midday I
observed the bird hawking insects in the trees surrounding my bird bath. It
seems to want to use the bird bath, but may be reluctant due to other species
present. The closest I have seen this species to this location is at Cobbler
Creek Recreation Park. First time I have observed this species here in the 10
months I've lived here. The bird was photographed.
Backyard in suburban wynn vale, hot day, currently 32.5 C.
All the usual species at the bird bath present. Inlcuding a family of at least
5 new holland honeyeaters, pair of little wattlebird with their semi-dependent
young, red wattlebirds and the local blackbirds.
