Unfortunately, the Shearwater wrecks in various parts of the country that are
occurring in various parts of the country this and in other years natural
selection in action. The birds that either fail to reach our shores or arrive
only to expire on or soon after arriving obviously did not have the reserves to
arrive in good enough shape to survive and breed. These wrecks are very sad to
see, but they are natures way of culling.
