Nice birds seen or heard recently about the Sunshine Coast include Lewin's
Rail, Eastern Grass Owl and Eastern Ground Parrot at Castaways Beach in
wallum heath. It was encouraging to hear three Ground Parrots calling
including a possible pair in the remnant, endangered Sunshine Coast
population on the Sunshine Coast.

At Charlie Moreland Park in the hinterland, signs of an early breeding
season were in evidence with the weather warming up quickly. Logrunners and
Noisy Pittas in particular were very focal and aggressively staking out
territories.

In the home garden at Ninderry, a Pale-vented Bush-hen continues to hold
court, calling vigorously in another unusually early indication of breeding
activity.
