Birdline Western Australia

Published sightings for the week ending 11 Aug 2013.

Fri 9 Aug Shining Bronze-Cuckoo Wungong Dam, between 'orchard' and carpark
From the carpark across the lawn to the right and past the pipe and then along the track towards the old orchard and back. Lots of activity for the small birds (wrens, thornbills and silvereyes). Lots of nesting activity going on Shining Bronze-Cuckoo (1) Photographed bird to confirm ID. Bird was also calling and could be ID'd by that too
Ross Jones

Tue 6 Aug Painted Finch Millstream-Chichester NP
At Smokey Creek campground (closed), near a dried out creek - spotted around 5 birds (Painted Finch), but didn't manage a good shot. Not far from there, a bit further up the road, also spotted half dozen spinnifex pigeons (albeit - this is where you would expect them)
Snez Plunkett

Yellow-rumped Mannakin Ivanhoe Rd Kununurra
At Thomas and Thomas site. 3 sightings of Yellow-rumped Mannakin, possibly the same bird. 15+ Star Finch and a Chestnut- breasted Mannikin also present.
Allan Benson
