Manfrotto Tripod

I am interested in the responses. About 10 years or so ago, I lost a wing nut off a Manfrotto tripod (after owning it for about a year). I wrote them a letter saying that I thought there were poorly designed with a short thread. They mailed me three spares. No cost. I thought they had a long warrantee?

I have since upgraded to a Swarovski carbon fibre tripod (actually a rebadged Manfrotto), and I do have a couple of problems with it. One of the bolts keeps coming loose, and with repeated use of the supplied Allen key, the head is becoming stripped which has surprised me. I would have assumed the metal on the bolt would be tougher than the Allen key.
